What an awesome Weskus Jou Lekker Ding BraaiDag 2023 (#WeskusFees) we didn't have in November 2023 at Shipwreck Bar & Restaurant in Velddrif.
It was a fantastic BraaiDag with good food, conversation and lots of fun and entertainment from all the artists that day.

Our PotjieKos Competition Judges
Our proud Chief Judge for our PotjieKos Competition, Denzel "Denzy" Koenana , winner of HuisKok South Africa! On his & the other 2 judges' shoulders rests a lot of expectations to get the "WINNERS" of the 3 prizes right, but we have all faith in Denzel & his team, those of you who don't know Denzel Koenana, he is just the West Coast Chef of all Chefs!
Our second or shall we say assistant Judge is Analise Kleyn from Cape Town. She is an exceptional woman with a taste palette of size. She loves the outdoors and really loves barbecuing and cooking, anything to do with cooking on a fire, that's where you'll find Analise. We are privileged to have her caliber as an assistant judge for our West Coast Jou Lekker Ding BraaiDag Potjiekos Competition.
Our 3rd Judge is a Lambertsbaaer by birth, and she herself also organizes many community events such as potjiekos competitions and was a natural choice as one of our judges for the West Coast Jou Lekker Ding Potjiekos Competition. Alice Thomas (Petersen) is truly a beautiful person with a beautiful heart and very spontaneous and 'outgoing', and it is a privilege for us to see her and Denzy and Analise together as our potjikos judging team.

We kick off the year 2023's West Coast Jou Lekker Ding's annual BraaiDag (or as we call it, the West Coast Festival) at exactly 09:00am at the River Market Restaurant & SHIPWRECK BAR in Velddrif.
Last year's West Coast Jou Lekker Ding BraaiDag was also held in Velddrif at the Knor Varkie open-air Restaurant and Bar, but this year promises to be even bigger and tastier.
We are going to hold a formal "Potjiekos Competisie" that day, and those who are not going to participate in the potjiekos competition will enjoy a barbecue together for their families, relatives and friends.
Although there is a place to sit, we would like to suggest that if you own a camp chair, to bring it with you for safety, as well as cutlery, own meat, salads, spices, other side dishes, but no alcoholic refreshments, because they must bought from the bar that the 'Venue' makes available to us, that's the only bit of money they can make that day as we don't charge any entrance fees for participating in our BraaiDag.
The owners of River Market Restaurant & SHIPWRECK BAR promised to give us good prices on the drinks and other refreshments, such as Milkshakes for the children and smears.
Those of you who don't want to grill yourself that day can even order from the Restaurant's Menu, which includes Hamburgers, Fish & Chips, Pizzas and more.

Scan Station opens to scan BraaiDag tickets & admit guests. Every registered Festival goer must get a BraaiDag stamp in the process. The BraaiDag stamp will not only identify you for the day as a BraaiDag Festival attendee, but also at the bar by showing the stamp, you will receive a discount on the drink prices as well as food from the restaurant.
